OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma –
A shocking trade for Thunder nation – the organization officially negotiates Russell Westbrook. The news was first broadcast via ESPN.

According to ESPN, the Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to trade Westbrook against the Houston Rockets against Chris Paul, choosing the first round in 2024 and 2026, and to choose trades in 2021 and 2025.

Westbrook was hired for the first time in 2008. This trade ends Westbrook's 11-year period in a Thunder uniform.

Westbrook is now teaming with former Thunder player James Harden in Houston.

Westbrook and Harden played together for three seasons in Oklahoma City, leading the Thunder to the playoffs and final in 2012.

Chris Paul began his career in Oklahoma City as a member of the Hornets, when the franchise was forced to temporarily leave New Orleans after the passage of Hurricane Katrina.
