Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson Last Tuesday, the NFL was moved by the revelation that it had put its organization on a stopwatch in terms of extending the contract to both parties. Agreement, agree "rocked" is a bit of an exaggeration, but since the Seahawks have absolutely no need to sign Wilson before a specific date, the idea that Wilson would put a self-contracted prohibition on contractual negotiations intrigued the mind.
According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Wilson and his camp will no longer hold contract negotiation talks after April 15, leaving the Seahawks only a few hours to reach an agreement. Adding to the pressure, Wilson will not return to the table if no deal is struck Monday night and that never means. This is the only opportunity for the Seahawks to sign Wilson again.
As Wilson enters the final year of his contract in 2019, there appear to be only two possible outcomes in this event. Wilson to sign bigger deal than Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did last season and become the new highest paid quarterback of the NFL or the Seahawks signalman will earn a franchise label in 2020 and will get a huge increase, but not the money guaranteed in the long run that it waits.
Whatever the case may be, the Seahawks can only reverse this decision, but up to now, Wilson has got their hands on them by limiting their chat window. Here's how the NFL reacted to the announcement of Wilson's self-imposed deadline. There was a lot of information to express and sift through and this was not even a day yet.
The next two weeks should be fun unless you're a fan of the Seahawks. Then they are probably just atrocious.
