Chicago Bears fans had fun with the idea of the franchise acquiring star quarterback Russell Wilson – though it is unlikely.
Wilson did not ask the Seattle Seahawks for a trade, but there have been tensions between the two sides. The Seahawks remain adamant that Wilson will be part of their plans in 2021, but anything can happen during the offseason.
There are four teams on Wilson’s radar – the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and Bears. And while Chicago might not be the most attractive destination – given the uncertain futures of Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy – Wilson would love to have a chance to topple a historic franchise like the Bears.
Someone who thinks Chicago would be a good fit for Wilson is former Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall, someone who is close to the star quarterback.
“He’s a guy who wants to win; I have never been with a better competitor. He wants to win and he wants to win in style. The Chicago Bears let you do that, ”Marshall said on First of all, via NBC Sports Chicago.
Marshall, who knows firsthand what it’s like to play in Chicago, explained why Wilson should come to the Bears. And he speaks from experience.
“I was there for 3 years. Amazing place! If you win there, you’re iconic, ”Marshall said. “It’s an iconic franchise, they are at the top of all sports, probably in the top 10 brands.
“So you want to go, you’ve got good defense, and they’re going to give you the keys.” And I know they’ve already discussed this internally, what they can give up and what they’re willing to do to make Russell feel comfortable.
Unfortunately, Marshall ranked the Bears last among four teams on Wilson’s shortlist. But, at this point, can we really blame him?
While none of this would matter if Pace were to somehow land Wilson, who would instantly be the franchise’s best quarterback in history. Make it happen, Pace.
