Ryan Day on Ohio State Football Sugar Bowl roster: ‘Plane is a bit fuller than a week ago’

[ad_1]

NEW ORLEANS – Ohio State football coach Ryan Day continues to avoid details, but again hinted on Thursday that the Buckeyes will have more players available for the Sugar Bowl on Friday against Clemson .

Ohio state played without 24 players in the Big Ten Championship Game victory over Northwestern on December 18. Many of these players were absent due to coronavirus testing protocols, although others have been sidelined for injury.

ESPN’s Maria Taylor asked Day if the Buckeyes would have starters for their college football playoff semifinal after Day left the plane in New Orleans on Thursday.

“As you know, there is a protocol to go back,” Day said. “A lot of these guys are back in protocol, and they just got stronger over the week. But you don’t just jump on the pitch after being away for a long time.

“The plane is a little fuller than a week ago.”

Various OSU players can be seen leaving the plane behind Day in the video above. The Buckeyes landed at 4:12 p.m. local time and proceeded to the Superdome for a visit.
