Lightweight sensation Ryan Garcia takes on Luke Campbell for the vacant interim WBC lightweight title in the DAZN card main event at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday.
Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) has won four of his last five stoppage fights, including an impressive first-round knockout against Francisco Fonseca on February 14. Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs) has not fought since losing a unanimous decision challenging Vasiliy Lomachenko for the lightweight championship in August 2019.
In the co-main event, Rene Alvarado defends his “regular” WBA junior lightweight title against Roger Gutierrez in a 12-round battle.
Alvarado (32-8, 21 KOs) has won eight fights in a row, including six by stoppage, since a decision loss to Yuriorkis Gamboa almost four years ago. Gutierrez (24-3-1, 20 KOs) suffered back-to-back defeats to Oscar Duarte and Hector Tanajara in 2018, but he won five consecutive fights, four per stoppage.
Also on the card, René’s twin brother Felix Alvarado (35-2, 30 KOs) defends his IBF junior flyweight world title against DeeJay Kriel (16-1-1, 8 KOS) in a 12-round bout. .

F. Alvarado dominates Kriel in TKO win
Felix Alvarado shone in his United States debut, scoring two knockdowns in a 10th-round stoppage win over DeeJay Kriel to defend his IBF lightweight flyweight world title.
After not boxing at all in 2020, Alvardo – René’s twin brother, also in action on the same card – showed his power to rank him as one of the best in the world at 108 pounds in his second title defense global.
Alvarado (36-2, 31 KO), 31, of Nicaragua, served the warning with a quick start, then hit Kriel (15-2-1, 8 KO), 25, with a left hook that landed flush with the chin in the second round. Kriel admirably survived a scorching minute and a half until the end of the second round, taking a big right hand to the chin in the process.
Alvarado landed a series of shots in the fourth round and put the South African on the canvas again with a left hook. But Kriel, a former Straw Weights titlist and quality operator, made a playful return with quick hands.
Kriel reduced the points margin in the middle of the laps, but was nearly passed late in the ninth round as Alvarado increased the pressure. Alvarado sustained his attack in the 10th round and it was enough to force a save after 1 minute and 39 seconds as he landed a series of unanswered punches.
Curiel crushes Agaton in TKO victory
Raul Curiel came out of the gate quickly and never gave in, beating Ramses Agaton for more than four minutes on his way to a one-sided TKO second round victory.
Curiel (9-0, 7 KOs) focused on the body from the start, and a left hook to the liver twisted Agaton, who fell to his knees in frustration. The fight appeared to be on the verge of stopping at the end of the first round after a flurry of punches against the ropes, but Agaton (22-13-3, 12 KOs) lasted long enough to hear the bell at the end of the first round.
The assault didn’t end with the start of the second inning, as a perpetual barrage of right hooks and left upercuts landed consistently. Agaton, whose right eye swelled, could not protect himself and his corner threw in the towel at 1:16 am.
According to CompuBox, Curiel outscored Agaton 43-10, despite throwing almost the same number of punches (108 for Curiel, 107 for Agaton).
Young Garcia remains undefeated with majority victory
Lightweight Sean Garcia, Ryan Garcia’s younger brother, went undefeated with a relentless majority decision victory over René Marquez by scores of 38-38, 39-37 and 39-37.
Garcia (5-0, 2 KOs), had a more difficult time than expected against Marquez (5-5, 2 KOs). Marquez kept moving forward, landing punches and throwing his right hand whenever he had Garcia close. Garcia, 20, was able to land more punches in the third round, but finished the fight tired – a product of Marquez’s body attack.
According to CompuBox, Garcia landed 48 of 161 punches in total, while Marquez, 31, was only able to land 30 of 185. Garcia also logged 43 of his power punches, while Marquez only landed than 22.
