Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy set to return to Bears in 2021

Over the past two days, Chicago Bears fans have been pacing, wondering what the team is going to do with general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy heading into the offseason. It looks like the answer is about to be revealed.

Several reports coming out of Halas Hall indicate that Pace and Nagy will not be fired and are expected to return to the Bears for the 2021 NFL season. The news was first reported as a rumor by The Chicago Tribune Brad Biggs and later confirmed by Dan Wiederer, also of Tribune.

The report comes nearly 48 hours after the Bears lost to the New Orleans Saints 21-9 in the playoffs, their second trip to the playoffs in three seasons.

Pace, who has been the team’s general manager since 2015, has overseen just one season in which the team finished with over .500 since being hired by the Bears. He hired Nagy in 2018, who compiled a regular-season record of 28-20, but coached the team to back-to-back seasons of .500. Nagy also suffered from a six-game losing streak last year.
