This has been the question and worry on everyone’s mind once former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer accepted the head coach position with the Jaguars. of Jacksonville. Would Meyer take someone from the current OSU staff to bolster his efforts for NFL world domination in JAX?
It turns out Meyer doesn’t think it’s in his best interests or the best of the state of Ohio, but he pulled the trigger on a current staff member, Ryan Stamper. Stamper served as assistant athletic director of player development at Columbus, but played for Meyer in Florida as captain twice, winning national titles in 2006 and 2008.
After a brief stint outside of football, Stamper was hired in the state of Ohio in 2012, where he has been since. He helps run ‘Real Life Wednesdays’ and other initiatives designed to help the athlete balance football and life off the pitch holistically. His loss is greatly underestimated, but appears to be the only personnel impact OSU will retain from Meyers’f’s foray into training. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was the first to break the news.
Stamper is originally from Jacksonville, so this is also a chance to come home. It’s hard to blame a guy for this and we wish him the best.
