There may not be anyone on earth who has covered Aaron Rodgers’ story more than Colin Cowherd. Every day. Here’s why Rogers is right. Here’s why Rodgers is wrong. Here’s why the Packers are right. Most of what you get from Cowherd, his guests, and all the other members of the national media is the opinion that Aaron is valid in his frustrations. Rarely do you have someone who thinks like the faithful Packer and says, Wait a second. Are you sure of this?
Well, today Russillo was in The Herd and said the following:
If you had a best friend, right, a guy you grew up with and families are friends. You’re married, he’s married, everyone gets along well, and he said, “Hey, I think I’m going to leave my wife. “
You’re like, “Woah, alright. Well, do you have any details?
“No, you know I just can’t feel it.”
You’d say, “Okay, if you want to blow up your family here, I need to be a little convinced. I support you, I understand, things are changing. I just need the details.
And this whole Aaron Rodgers saga has been pretty vague. I love Aaron Rogers. I clearly love him more than you. But this Packers team is a Super Bowl contender. It’s not like he’s been with a team here for over a decade that never stood a chance.
I get it, Rodgers is really special, and now he wants to move on. But this whole saga, Colin, I feel like I need… are you playing the victim? Convince me that you are the victim. OK? Convince me that you are the victim. Because just writing Jordan Love and not educating yourself isn’t enough to do that to the franchise that backed him up. To do with his teammates who, for the most part, really love him.
OK, cool, you wanna go out. And you do all these vague things. I need something more specific. He can clearly disclose it to anyone in the media he wants, but this whole timeline, Colin, I’m just not convinced he’s as aggrieved as he claims he is.
As the children would say, “This. All that.”
It’s the perfect summary of what many Packer fans are feeling. We got it, you are crazy. But you are not giving us a sufficient reason to be on your side. Give us a reason to help us understand. Help us to support you.
Everything Aaron Rodgers has done so far – leaked stuff, joked about it at a golf game, etc. – did absolutely nothing to make him like a fan. And if he really wants the organization to do things differently and act differently, all he would need was fans on his side. Give us a reason.
