Borat responds to Borat 2 scene Rudy Giuliani

Next Borat movie made headlines (even before its release on Amazon Prime Video) with its most heartbreaking scene: the aftermath of an interview between the former New York mayor and Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) Tutar girl (Maria bakalova). In the film, Baron Cohen’s Borat arrives to prevent the scene from unfolding as one would expect, but the star revealed he was truly “afraid it would turn into an even uglier situation.”

In a conversation with Ben Affleck for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Baron Cohen revealed how he, director Jason Woliner and the Borat 2 the production pulled off the prank against Rudy Giuliani, even with the fear that it could easily go wrong:

“In this scene, we built a secret compartment inside a cabinet for me to stand up on, and it was about six feet tall. I stand in total darkness. I have to change in this erotic outfit to seduce Giuliani. And the idea was that I would communicate with a cell phone, I turned on the cell phone. I am in absolute darkness and it is 4%. It’s a scene of an hour and a half. And in fact, I interrupted the scene. There was another version where room service brings a cart, and I hide in the cart. I never thought he was actually going to walk into the room.

But Baron Cohen explained that Bakalova’s safety was his top priority, even with the downside of her low-battery phone. He had to keep turning the phone off and on again to save battery power, as the interview was scheduled to last an hour and a half. And at one point, he turned on the phone to find text messages from the director of the film saying, “NOW! NOW! NOW! ”At that point, he came out of the closet and rushed into the bedroom to find Giuliani lying on the bed.

“I was hoping for the movie they were going to [go in the room]. But also, you know as a producer and director, I have an actress there that I have to take care of and protect too. We put her in a situation with a powerful man who may or may not have been in this situation before. And then finally I came running in, but had no idea he was on the bed.

Fortune seemed to be on Baron Cohen’s side, as Affleck remarked that the scene unfolded as if Borat had arrived just in time “before it turned into something so horrible we can’t even put it in. the film.”

“Yeah,” Baron Cohen replied. “We were afraid it would turn into an even uglier situation.”

Guiliani fell under the discretion of the stage, to which he claimed he was just tucking in his shirt. You can see the actors’ conversation segment where Baron Cohen explains how they filmed Giuliani’s footage below.
