The 2020 NBA Draft arrives on November 18 and we could see new Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair make his first trade.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony wrote an article focusing on what he heard in the league ahead of the draft. Here’s what he has to say about the Kings’ first-round pick, who is 12th overall.
“Choices belonging to the Sacramento Kings (No. 12), Boston Celtics (No. 14), Wolves (No. 17), Dallas Mavericks (No. 18), Brooklyn Nets (No. 19) and Miami Heat (No. 20) )) are the most prevalent in business conversations lately, according to the sources. “
Sacramento also has three second-round picks (Nos. 35, 43, and 52), so McNair could be looking to advance if there’s a player he covets that’s still on the board. This year’s draft is unique as scouts generally believe you can get a similar level of player anywhere between picks 10 and 20.
There are a ton of wings that should be on the shelf when Sacramento makes its choice. Isaac Okoro, Aaron Nesmith and Patrick Williams would be ideal targets if McNair is looking to add depth to the perimeter.
If McNair wants to go big, players like Jalen Smith and Precious Achiuwa to help strengthen the frontcourt. While Kira Lewis, RJ Hampton and Theo Maledon are options if Sacramento wants to add a point guard to complement De’Aaron Fox.
It will be an interesting few weeks for the Kings. McNair’s biggest decision will be what to do with restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic. If he re-signs Bogi, he may seek to add a leader or a forward in the draft.
