Louisiana police looking for the murderer of a founder of African-American history museum – discovered last week in a car trunk – planned an autopsy on Monday in the "heinous" assassination while friends and legislators praised the civil rights activist as "a mother of the community."
Sadie Roberts-Joseph was found in a car parked just five kilometers from her home in Baton Rouge, where she founded and served as curator of the Baton Rouge African-American Museum, which opened in 2001.
Investigators spoke of potential suspects or a possible motive, but two politicians from the city close to Roberts-Joseph – Sharon Weston Broome, mayor-president of Baton Rouge, and Louis Denise, representative of Louisiana. On Friday, Marcelle announced on Facebook that Roberts-Joseph "was found murdered".
"This woman was amazing and loved her story, she did not bother anyone, she just wanted to expand her African-American museum in the city center, where she continuously animated the Juneteenth celebration every year," she wrote.
The city's home office website indicates that the Roberts-Joseph-based museum showcases African art, exhibits on growing cotton inventors and blacks, as well as exhibits. a 1953 bus dating back to the boycott of civil rights in Baton Rouge.

The Baton Rouge Police Service has described the 75-year-old as "a tireless defender of peace in the community" and a "treasure" we will miss.
