The New Orleans Saints didn’t need much to beat the Denver Broncos in this one, rushing for 229 yards in a resounding victory to stay atop the NFC standings. New Orleans have won eight straight games, the NFC’s longest active winning streak.
Taysom Hill was ineffective in throwing the football, completing just 9 of 16 passes for 78 yards and an interception as New Orleans finished with just 63 clear passing yards in 11 possessions. Hill averaged just 4.9 yards per passing attempt, but rushed for two touchdowns and finished with 10 carries for 44 yards. Hill has recorded four quick touchdowns since taking over as the Saints’ starting quarterback two games ago.
Latavius Murray had his first multi-touchdown game since Week 4, leading the Saints with 19 carries for 124 yards and two scores. Alvin Kamara was out for most of the second half as the Saints had the game in hand. He finished with 11 carries for 54 yards.
Denver used training team wide receiver Kendall Hinton as quarterback after all active roster quarterbacks were deemed high risk for COVID-19 after Jeff Driskel was placed on the reserve / COVID roster -19 earlier in the week. Hinton finished 1 of 9 for 13 yards with two interceptions and a zero passer rating.
Denver became the first team to make a single assist in a game since the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 with Cody Pickett. Hinton was 0-for-7 with a first-half interception as Denver became the first NFL team since the 2011 Broncos with Tim Tebow to complete a never-ending half.
