The Hooded Saints created space by restructuring kicker Wil Lutz’s deal.

Lutz, who still has three years on his current contract, converted most of his base salary into a signing bonus to save $ 1.74 million in cap this season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This means Lutz will count more against the cap in the years to come, but the Saints will worry about this issue later when the salary cap rises again after this year’s drop.

Lutz has had a good season on pitching, but a poor season on field goals in 2020.

The Saints have always largely exceeded the projected salary cap for 2021 and must take several other steps to get below the limit.
