It's a big contract for Salesforce, which continues to diversify beyond customer relationship management software and into deeper analytics layers.

The company would have worked hard to buy LinkedIn (but Microsoft has brought it back instead), but does not really have much in common between LinkedIn and Tableau, but this offer also aims to strengthen engagement with customers: Salesforce has already.
