Columbia, S.C. – Police arrested a man Saturday in connection with the death of a student who apparently got into the suspect's car thinking that it was his Uber ride. Nathaniel David Rowland, 24, was arrested early Saturday after a police officer noticed him driving a black Chevrolet Impala, the same type of car in which Samantha Josephson had taken a seat while she was leaving a bar shortly after 2 am, in the 5 Points area of Columbia City. Rowland tried to run, but the officer managed to catch up with him, Holbrook said. When they returned to the car, the officer saw what appeared to be blood in the car.

"We think … that she just mistakenly got into that car thinking it was an Uber ride," Holbrook said of Josephson, noting that the video surveillance captured her in a car. "She opened the door and walked in and left with the suspect behind the wheel."
Rowland will be charged with murder and kidnapping, Rowland said. We did not know if he had a lawyer.
Holbrook said the hunters found Josephson's body Friday afternoon on a dirt road in rural Clarendon, about 65 km southeast of Columbia.
