Samson: Draymond Green was ‘wrong’ in his rant against the NBA

On Monday, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green expressed his frustration with the NBA regarding the way players are traded and how that process is carried out. The comments came after the Warriors’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where Andre Drummond was pulled from the roster as Cleveland reportedly seeks a trade for the veteran. The comments also touch on the current situation with Blake Griffin of the Detroit Pistons.

David Samson said on his podcast, “Nothing personal with David Samson:”

“Misguided, that’s how I want to describe what happened last night with Draymond Green … What he was talking about and his reasoning was so wrong.”

“When you’re talking about something… an ill-advised conversation can be intentional or accidental,” Samson continues, noting that the purpose is made to make a point, even though you know it’s wrong and accidental is easily fixed. Green is a mix of the two, according to the podcast host.

“He calls the NBA in a way you don’t hear often. Shows a level of frustration that doesn’t show up often,” he said.

Confused about it all, Samson said, “What the hell is he talking about?”

Samson said teams don’t have to present their plans to the player. “Teams don’t have an obligation to tell players when they’re playing, if they’re playing. They just don’t.”

Green is upset that teams and players aren’t treated the same by the NBA, but Samson says there is a different understanding and strategy when it comes to teams.

Looking ahead, discussing the similar situation Drummond and Blake Griffin find themselves in, Samson says he doesn’t see any of them being traded.

“They won’t both be swapped. I guarantee that,” says the podcast host.
