Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds Live, its latest pair of wireless headphones, in August. We were huge fans of Buds Live and their unique design, but not everyone likes pulses. Now, it looks like the company’s next pair of Galaxy Buds will bring a return to the traditional in-ear form factor – as well as some nifty upgrades below the surface.

A new report says the next generation Galaxy Buds will follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Buds and Buds + with a similar sealed in-ear design. Like the Live Buds, the new Buds will offer active noise cancellation, but due to design differences, they should sound better and block noise more effectively. There will also be audio quality improvements with a much better ambient mode to allow outside sounds to go through loud and clear.

The open design of the Buds Live had an impact on the effectiveness of its noise cancellation.

While the exact release date for Samsung’s next-gen headphones is unknown at this time, rumors point to a simultaneous launch alongside the Galaxy S21 line early next year. The Galaxy Buds + were unveiled at the company’s Unpacked event alongside the S20 series, so it seems likely we’ll see a similar thing again.

Galaxy Buds “Beyond” is said to be one of the product names used for enhanced buds. Whichever name Samsung ends up marketing the new Galaxy Buds under, it looks like they’ll certainly offer some welcome upgrades when it comes to the audio experience.
