More than a year ago, next to the release of the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung announced that it was working on a smart speaker powered by its Bixby digital assistant called Galaxy Home. And although the original Galaxy Home has still not been on sale, it seems that Samsung already has a Galaxy Home Mini in preparation.

Rumors about a small Bixby loudspeaker have been circulating for a little while after a Samsung FCC filing appeared earlier this spring, but now it looks like the Galaxy Home Mini is ready to be tested after Samsung has posted a registration page on his Korean site (first detailed by SamMobile) looking for users interested in participating in a Galaxy Home Mini beta program.

Recruitment for the Samsung beta test began on August 28th and will continue until September 1st. In the end, 3000 lucky participants will receive a free Galaxy Home Mini for Samsung's next test.

Although Samsung's recruitment page does not contain much information on the Galaxy Home Mini, an image suggests that the small Bixby speaker will be integrated with the Smart Things home automation platform from Samsung, allowing users to control other smart gadgets with their voice. .

This corresponds to similar products from companies such as Google and Amazon, who witnessed the rapid adoption of smart speakers, the total number of smart speakers in the United States rose to 66.4 million this spring, mainly due to the sale of smart speakers such as Google Home Mini and Echo Dot.

As for the big Galaxy Home, supposed to have released in the third quarter of this year, Samsung ended up delaying its release to "refine and improve" the device. It was probably a cautious decision, because Google and Amazon already have so much ahead of Samsung in the field of smart speakers (not to mention the general disdain of Samsung phone owners for everything about Bixby), it does not matter. There is not much room in the world. market for yet another mediocre smart speaker.
