Samsung has built a reputation as a reliable alternative in the high-end true wireless headphone space. So maybe it’s no surprise that someone is so desperate for details in their next iteration of headphones that they’ve datamined an all-new version of the official Samsung accessories support app. And so, any surprise for the upcoming Galaxy Buds2 has been ruthlessly spoiled, as we love it.

So here’s pretty much all the details on the Buds2, which are sort of a hybrid of the premium Buds Pro and older Buds +, thanks to the Github ThePBone poster (via XDA). They are aggressively rounded and matte, their only exterior features being a pair of microphones. They are available in no less than five different colors, the required black and white with the more festive green (olive), pastel yellow and pastel Barney-esque purple.

Like the Buds Pro, the Buds2 will feature active noise cancellation, and this time you can turn it on even if you’ve only inserted one earbud at a time. You’ll also have the option to turn off individual touchpad control options (for example, just the touch and hold gesture) if you want, instead of turning them all on or off. And for all those fans who demand cross-device compatibility (something notably missing from the Sony WF-1000XM4), it’s also there, according to a previous leak.

With Samsung working on the pairing app and the FCC cleared Buds2, it looks like an exit is imminent. An announcement at the next confirmed Unpacked event, usually scheduled for next month, seems like a safe bet. Presumably, we’ll get a prize at this event: I’d bet somewhere in the $ 175 range.
