CNET reported Friday that Samsung stops production of new Blu-ray Disc players for the US market. A Samsung representative told the site, "Samsung will not introduce new models of Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray players in the US market. "

Samsung launched a new 4K compatible drive in 2017, but did not introduce new models in 2018. According to a Forbes report, the company was developing a new model for publication in 2019 but the plan was canceled.

The US-based manufacturer of DVD players and Blu-ray discs, OPPO Digital, also announced last April that it "will gradually stop making new products," while continuing to take charge of existing products.

Video streaming service revenues surpassed sales of DVD and Blu-ray discs in the US for the first time in 2016. Upward trend in streaming and declining consumer media sales revenue 39, is continued until 2018.
