Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e and S10 + support Netflix HD and HDR

Digital Rights Management, or DRM, is a controversial topic among technology enthusiasts, many challenging its inclusion in PC video games. Regardless of your thoughts on the concept of DRM, you can not do anything to get around it on Android devices. Netflix on Android will allow you to stream video content in HD or HDR only if your device supports Widevine L1, but even in this case, support is not guaranteed, as we have already seen on the Xiaomi POCO F1. Netflix whitelist devices and chipsets for HD playback and has just added to its list some new Qualcomm smartphones and chipsets.

First, the new Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10e and Samsung Galaxy S10 + have all been certified by Netflix to support streaming video content in both HD (over 540p) and HDR10.

Then, they added the Samsung Galaxy M10, the Samsung Galaxy M20 and the Samsung Galaxy M30 to the list of smartphones that support Netflix HD streaming.

Finally, devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, or Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 are now pre-certified for streaming Netflix video in HD, as long as they are also shipped with Widevine L1 support. This means that smartphones such as the recently announced Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Nokia 8.1 can stream Netflix content in HD. The three smartphones I just mentioned support Widevine L1, as we confirm ourselves, @RevAtlas, and DailyHunt respectively. If you want to know more about Widevine L1's OTA field supply and how the Xiaomi POCO F1 now supports it, I recommend you read my previous article on the subject.
