We know a lot about what we get with the Galaxy s21, which would debut later this month. But lately it seems like we’re hearing more about this do not come up with the next flagship from Samsung.
Last week, reports appeared to confirm the rumor that the The Galaxy S21 will be delivered without a charger in some parts of the world, following Apple’s lead with the launch of the iPhone 12. Now it looks like the Galaxy S21 will have something else in common with Apple’s phones: there is apparently no slot microSD to expand storage on Samsung’s next phone.
This tidbit comes from Roland Quandt, who has a solid reputation for detailing on Samsung phones. When T taken to twitter with a simple message: a “memory card reader” is not included in the Galaxy S21 datasheet. A next tweet suggested that this would be true for all three Galaxy S21 models, even the expensive Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The datasheets for the S21 say: memory card reader: “No” Some markets may still have a charger in the box, while others do not.December 31, 2020
If the microSD slot is really screwed up, it looks like the next phone will drop one of the last bastions of classic smartphone design, up there with headphone jacks. Still, this is hardly a surprise. There was no such location on all of the manufacturer’s flagships in 2015, and some Galaxy Note models like the Galaxy note 10 and Galaxy note 20 missed the feature, too.
There is some potential good news from Quandt, who also notes that some markets may receive chargers in the Galaxy S21 box. This will not include the UK, however, according to other leaks. Nothing is official until Samsung unveils the phone.
And it could happen very soon. Rumors point to a Galaxy S21 January 14 launch event, with sending by telephone before the end of January. We’re expecting three models: a standard Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung has started letting potential buyers reserve a place online to pre-order the “next Galaxy” device.
