The future of Android’s smartwatch platform could very well hinge on the success or failure of the Galaxy Watch4, the first known model to use the new Samsung-infused version of Wear OS. So it’s no surprise that fans of Wear and Samsung’s watch hardware are eager to catch a glimpse of the new gadgets. The latest comes courtesy of mega-retailer Amazon, which has posted surprisingly candid snaps of the upcoming watches on its Canadian site.
The images, discovered and cached by the German blog WinFuture.de, are not the most surprising revelation. We already have a pretty good idea of what the Galaxy Watch4 will look like, and these images only confirm that Samsung isn’t straying too far from its excellent physical watch design for the standard and “Classic” models (including this one. the latter gets the popular rotating bezel dial). No, what’s interesting is that there are four ads displayed with prices and a release date: $ 310 to $ 464 and August 27.
These prices are likely in Canadian dollars. A direct conversion would give us US $ 248 for the cheapest model, the standard 44mm silver aluminum, and US $ 371 for the more expensive model, the classic 46mm stainless steel model with its physical bezel dial. . As always, don’t think of these conversions as anything more than a rough guide. But someone at Amazon being firm on a late August release date would follow what we heard about Samsung revealing new watches at an Unpacked event next month.
After the Galaxy Watch4, we can expect at least a few other wearable makers to jump into the new version of Wear OS, including Fossil and Google’s subsidiary Fitbit. Exactly how long it will take is a guess.
