Samsung has already confirmed that its next major software release will be called One UI 4.0, and we don’t have to wait too long to take a look at the new interface. The South Korean manufacturer is expected to launch the beta version of One UI 4.0 in September. So let’s take a look at what Samsung has to offer with Android 12, which phones will benefit from the update, and take a look at the new features.

Samsung announced at the end of July that the beta version of One UI 4.0 would be launched in the “coming weeks”. On August 31, Samsung confirmed in a forum post that the update will begin in September.

We should start to see more activity on this front in the coming weeks, and while we have no confirmation in which markets the beta will be available, it is likely unchanged from previous years. This means Korea and US markets will get a preview of One UI 4.0, followed by UK, India, China, Germany, and Poland. Samsung has traditionally limited its One UI beta program to these seven markets, and unless otherwise noted, this will also be the case for One UI 4.0.

Samsung typically ships its One UI beta to its latest Galaxy S series flagships, and it’s no different this year. The One UI 4.0 beta will go live for the Galaxy S21 series – the Galaxy S21, S21 +, and S21 Ultra – before heading to other devices.

If the history is any indication, the beta will first be available for unlocked models of the Galaxy S21 series in Korea and the United States and then rolled out to other devices. Interestingly, Samsung has confirmed that the T-Mobile and Sprint variants of the Galaxy S21 series will also be eligible for the beta of One UI 4.0. A 4.0 user interface gets lots of new features

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 run One UI 3.1.1 out of the box, with the version update offering some tweaks compared to One UI 3.1. A few leaks from July indicated that these devices will be rolling over to the One UI 3.5 version, but it’s clear that Samsung is focusing all of its efforts on the One UI 4.0 update.

With One UI 4.0, Samsung would introduce a host of new features and update the interface. While One UI 3.1 had some improvements over One UI 2.0, the interface has remained largely unchanged, so we need an update in this area. According to the leaker chunvn8888, Samsung will unveil an updated color scheme and new icons, and use the Material You design aesthetic of Android 12. With Google making some bold design changes with Material You, it will be very interesting to see how One UI 4.0 will differ from earlier versions of the skin.

Samsung confirmed a few weeks ago that it will be removing ads from One UI, and it’s highly likely that it will start doing so with One UI 4.0. We could also see changes to the handling of notifications, a vertically scrolling app drawer, new features in the power menu, camera updates and much more.

Another major feature of One UI 4.0 is under the hood tweaks, with Samsung optimizing the user interface to take full advantage of high-end hardware like the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100. Samsung has done much better in this area. over the past couple of years, but with its flagships and most of its mid-range devices now offering 120Hz panels, any UI optimization will make a noticeable difference.

We’ll have to wait until the first beta of One UI 4.0 is released for a full list of changes, but initially it looks like Samsung has big things in store with its upcoming software.

When will my Samsung phone receive the A 4.0 user interface update?

With the Galaxy S21 series getting the beta ahead of other devices in Samsung’s portfolio, it can be assumed that these phones will also be the first to upgrade to the stable version. Samsung typically starts rolling out stable versions of One UI at the end of the year, and if there is no change in that strategy this year, Galaxy S21 models are expected to get One UI 4.0 by December or early January.
