Samsung Removes Galaxy Z Flip 2 From Upcoming Unpacked Event

There haven’t been a lot of rumors about the Galaxy Z Flip 2 recently. It was anticipated that the company might be able to unveil it at its next Unpacked event. The handset was reportedly revealed alongside the Galaxy S21 series.

This may not be the case, however. New reports suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 2 has been taken off Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked agenda. In this case, the Galaxy S21 range will not have to share the limelight with its foldable cousin.

Galaxy Z Flip 2 could arrive later than its predecessor

Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip at the same Unpacked event in San Francisco as the Galaxy S20 in February this year. The foldable even came out before the Galaxy S20 range. Samsung may not be doing this this year to prevent the two devices from competing with each other.

Korean media reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will not be unveiled in the first quarter of 2021. If their prediction is correct, then we might not see the new foldable until at least March. This would allow Samsung to capitalize on the initial hype for the Galaxy S21 series without any competition from the foldable.

This could perhaps be one of the reasons the Galaxy S21 announcement takes place in early January, as we have already confirmed. Samsung may want to put some distance between all of the high-end phones slated for release next year. Ditching the Galaxy S21 launch first will limit the possibility that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will drop some sales of the high-end Ultra model.

The later launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 2 is probably the reason we haven’t seen a lot of rumors about the device until now. On the other hand, there have already been quite a few major leaks on the Galaxy S21.

Samsung has yet to confirm its plans for the flagship launches in 2021. Fortunately, January is not that far away, so we won’t have to wait too long.
