Samsung responds to Galaxy Fold display issues

After some encouraging first impressions shared earlier this week, the disaster seems to have hit the Samsung Galaxy Fold today, while a handful of journalists have revealed serious display issues. Now, Samsung has officially commented on Galaxy Fold's display issues, and they are looking into the issue.

Bloomberg Mark Gurman tweeted an official statement by Samsung (reiterated by The edgetonight, who first confirmed that the company was actually interested in the problem. This should not be a surprise, but it's comforting to know that Samsung does not ignore the problem.

In addition, Samsung directly addresses the problem that has spawned two of the three Galaxy Fold display issues: the removal of the top plastic layer. Samsung reiterates that this layer should never be removed, adding that adhesives should not be used on the top layer either. Presumably, this refers to screen protectors.

Finally, Samsung's statement states that the company will ensure that information regarding this top layer is communicated to Galaxy Fold customers.

Apparently, launch plans for April 26 are still underway… for the moment

A limited number of old samples of Galaxy Fold have been provided to the media for review. We have received some reports regarding the main display on the samples provided. We will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the case.

Separately, some reviewers reported removing the top layer of the display, which damaged the screen. The main screen of the Galaxy Fold is equipped with a top protective layer, which is part of the display structure designed to protect the screen from unwanted scratches. The removal of the protective layer or the addition of adhesives on the main screen can be damaged. We will ensure that this information is clearly communicated to our customers.
