Samsung turns Galaxy S10's Bright Night feature into night mode

Samsung activates the Galaxy S10's Bright Night camera feature, which allows the S10 to automatically activate the night mode for low-light shots, to its own dedicated night mode. Users will be able to use it manually whenever they want, instead of relying on the chosen algorithm (as indicated by SamMobile).

Once the update is complete (for now, it only seems to be available in Switzerland), users will get a new night mode option for the camera. This mode can be enabled by scanning, as in other modes such as Panorama or Instagram modes built into the Samsung Camera application.

The absence of manual night mode was one of the most confusing parts of the S10. As my colleague, Natt Garun, noted in his commentary, not letting users choose when to use Bright Night for shots was an unusual oversight, especially compared to the Pixel 3, which allows users to have a good time. To activate or deactivate the long exposure mode as they please.

Although manual control is nice, Samsung still has some way to go for the algorithm with regards to its images. According to Natt, the Pixel 3 has always taken better images in night mode than the Samsung version, and newcomers like the Huawei P30 Pro have already overshadowed even the performance of the Pixel.

Given that Samsung has already done all the work to develop its own night mode feature for the S10, it is always good to see that the company offers it as a full feature for those who want it.
