Swapping out older or existing phones to buy new ones is a foreign concept to me; you are almost always guaranteed a better price by selling them to another person. But this is a practical practice in some countries with some brands, and it eases sticker shock, especially on prohibitively priced phones like the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series. This time around, Samsung eases the burden a bit more by letting you swap in two phones instead of one, for a bigger price cut.

Samsung released the booking link for its upcoming flagship yesterday, and those who followed have noticed they can add two swap phones, at least in the US. As far as we can judge, this is the first time that Samsung has allowed this, and it is certainly a welcome step. You clean your drawers or cabinets of unused devices, send a phone back to a company that (hopefully) will put it to good use or their materials, and get cash on your next exorbitant purchase. Win-win-win.

The Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 are expected to be announced in a few weeks on August 11. The invitations were sent out yesterday. We are also expecting the new Galaxy Watch4 and Buds2 at the event.
