The budget smartphones released by South Korea's consumer electronics giant Samsung are expected to feature cryptocurrency and blockchain functions, local English-language media Business Korea reported on May 14.

According to this report, the encryption and lock chain features included in the Samsung S10 will be included in other Galaxy smartphone models. The electronics manufacturer has also planned to cooperate with telecommunications companies on mobile identification cards based on blockchain and local currencies.

Chae Won-Cheol, general manager of the product strategy team of Samsung Electronics' Business Wireless division, reportedly said:

"We will reduce the barriers to new experiences by gradually increasing the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service countries after Korea, the United States and Canada. "

As reported by Cointelegraph at the end of February, the new smartphones from the Galaxy S10 series released by South Korean tech giant Samsung will apparently have portfolio functions for Ether (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC) and two other chips.

By the end of April, an anonymous source informed of a news site of the cryptography industry, Samsung, could develop a public-private block chain with its own token.

And this week, HTC also announced that a low-cost version of its blockchain smartphone would appear around the third quarter of 2019 with a full BTC node, as well as ERC-20 chip trading in the portfolio.
