With the Galaxy S10, Samsung aimed to design a handset with a screen covering almost the entire front surface. While the end product is about to achieve this goal, the engineers had to get rid of the superfluous elements to make the cut as small as possible. As such, the LED indicator has been removed to make room for additional pixels, leaving many users frustrated and without a way to easily know that they have notifications to view. Of course, the always-active display can help alleviate this problem, but it's not as easy to see as a flashing light from afar.

We recently told you about Holey Light, a third-party application that places a lively circle around the S10 cutout when you receive notifications. Well, Samsung worked on the creation of this feature itself, thanks to an update of the EdgeLighting + plugin.

The latter is part of Good Lock, the manufacturer's application that allows you to customize the interface and features of your phone. The plug-in download adds an Eclipse option to the Edge Lighting settings, which will make the screen cutout shiny when a notification arrives, instead of all the edges of the panel. Unfortunately, when this feature is off, this feature only works with standard Samsung Apps apps and therefore does not completely replace an LED. Plus, as Edge Lighting changes stock notifications, incoming notifications now appear in a much smaller bubble at the top of the screen, which I do not personally like.

If you want to try it, you can get Good Lock and its EdgeLighting + plug-in from the Galaxy Store, or download them from the APK Mirror (Good Lock, EdgeLighting +). You must first enable Edge Lighting in your phone's settings under Display -> Border Screen.
