Samsung’s high-end Android tablets could soon be at risk

For customers all over the world, Samsung is the only option if they want to get the best Android tablets. Even though at one point there were many competitors in the flagship Android tablet market, there aren’t that many anymore.

However, it looks like a new challenger is gearing up to take on Samsung’s high-end tablets. It could happen later this year before Samsung even launches its series of new Galaxy Tab S8 tablets.

New challengers look to take on Samsung’s high-end Android tablets

Lenovo has a new high-end Android tablet in the works called the Tab P12 Pro. The Google Play console listing for the device reveals that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with at least 8GB of RAM. This is a huge improvement over its predecessor which had the Snapdragon 730G chipset. The device will also have an OLED display and will run Android 11.

It’s important to note here that although Samsung is the number one supplier of Android tablets, Lenovo is actually the fastest growing OEM of tablets. Even in first place, Samsung’s tablet shipments in the second quarter of 2021 were up 18% compared to the same period last year. Lenovo came in second, but its shipments were up 67% from Q2 2020.

The Galaxy Tab S8 series will be the next high-end tablet we get from Samsung. They are expected to arrive early next year. According to a leak, they’ll be using the “fastest next-gen” processor, probably called the Snapdragon 895 or 898. The series will feature a really bonkers Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra model with a massive 14.6-inch 120Hz OLED panel and a 12,000 mAh battery.

Lenovo may be getting more serious in competing in this market now, but Samsung isn’t going to give up its lead that easily. Healthy competition only benefits consumers, so we all agree.
