A San Antonio target is one of 17 targets nationwide selected for a new collaboration with Apple to provide an “innovative new shopping experience,” the store said in a press release Thursday.
The target located at 18255 Blanco Road will increase the floor space for the Apple display and house all the latest products, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, HomePods and Apple TV. In addition, Target’s technical consultants will be trained by Apple, the press release said.
Target officials said the tech company’s products are popular with store customers and hope the collaboration will make the retail giant a premier destination for electronics.
Four other Texas targets in Allen, Austin, Hurst and Irving were also selected for the Apple experiment.
Target officials said a number of factors were used in choosing the top 17 stores, but did not specify. The retailer plans to use the 17 stores as a guide for future deployments. Other locations are expected to open in the fall, according to the press release.
Target has also launched an Apple Online Experience, and Target RedCard holders will get 5% off all Apple products and free two-day shipping.
The retailer said the local Target Apple Experience is expected to open soon, but did not specify a date.
Apple has two San Antonio stores in La Cantera and the North Star Mall, but both have been closed for in-store shopping in response to the pandemic.
