Seniors in San Bernardino County can now get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The San Bernardino County Supervisory Board announced Thursday afternoon, January 14, that all county residents aged 65 and over are now eligible for the coronavirus vaccine.

However, vaccine stocks are scarce and appointments are limited, according to a press release.

County residents 65 and older can book appointments online by visiting: https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine/.

Seniors can also sign up to receive email and SMS notifications to receive alerts on immunization opportunities and related news, the release said, through the “Subscribe to 65+ vaccine notifications” link at the address https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine/.

“We know our seniors are the most vulnerable to serious illness and death if they contract COVID-19 and we want to get them vaccinated as quickly as possible,” said Chairman of the Board, Curt Hagman, in a press release. “We ask the community to be patient as we continue to receive doses from the State of California.”

New options for getting vaccinated are yet to come, county officials said. They include mobile vaccination units to help those who have difficulty traveling, those who live in remote areas. In addition, vaccination sites similar to the county test sites are planned, possibly staged with clinics and health care providers. A “super-site” for vaccinations will be announced shortly.

Those who need help making appointments or signing up for notifications can call the COVID-19 hotline, 909-387-3911, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, the statement said.
