Due to a slowdown in appointments at COVID-19 vaccination sites, San Diego County health officials have expanded eligibility to residents aged 75 and older.

Vaccinations were previously limited to healthcare professionals with an appropriate identification badge.

“We took this step today to add people aged 75 and over because they are at the greatest risk,” said Dr Wilma Wooten, county public health official. “We still intend to extend vaccines to people 65 and over the week of January 25, depending on vaccine availability.”

The new eligibility applies to the Petco Park Super Vaccine Station and other sites administering doses received by the county. More information on coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and appointments can be made online at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com

The county advised those seeking a vaccine to make an appointment first, wear a mask and bring identification.
