SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Gas prices continue to climb in southern California, rising nearly two cents on Monday.
According to AAA figures, the price of a gallon of gasoline has increased by more than 50 cents in less than a month.
AAA also says the price has risen for 21 consecutive days and 27 of the last 28 days in San Diego County.

The price per gallon exceeds 20 cents more than a week ago, 51.7 cents more than a month ago and more than 27 cents more than a year ago. California's tax on gasoline is also expected to increase by 5.6% on July 1, 2019.
Meanwhile, the national average for a gallon of gasoline Monday was $ 2.74.
According to AAA, a series of refinery problems led to a reduction in gas supplies.

The Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles and the El Segundo plants of Chevron Corp. have all experienced production shutdowns and oil production stalls due to various problems.
"Four dollars a gallon on average is certainly possible," said Patrick HeHaan of GasBuddy at 10News.
