San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, who is recovering from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for most of the week, is expected to play against the visiting Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, said a source to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kittle, who is listed as dubious, has suffered from swelling and calf pain since the Niners’ first week win over the Detroit Lions. He was a limited participant in Friday’s practice after he didn’t participate on Wednesday or Thursday.

Following Friday’s practice, Kittle said he would “do whatever I can” to play in Sunday’s breakthrough early in the season with division rival Seattle.

“And then if the body says I can go, I’ll be there,” he said.

Kittle, 27, is second on the team in receptions (15) and receiving yards (187) in three games.

Niners backer Elijah Mitchell, who is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, will not play on Sunday, a source told Schefter.
