While no one knows if the Houston Texans will give in to Deshaun Watson’s trade demands, two former San Francisco 49ers greats have made their opinions known.
Earlier in the week, Jerry Rice said he believes Niners general manager John Lynch should try to put together a package to bring Watson to the Bay Area.
Now Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young is also sharing his thoughts. The two-time NFL MVP was on KNBR and was asked what he would be willing to part with a commercial package for Watson (h / t 49erswebzone):
“I would give two first-round picks for the generational quarterbacks, they’re potential Hall of Famers.
Who are the generational quarterbacks currently playing? Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, probably Josh Allen. Like, young guys. Justin Herbert, very quickly. San Francisco holds the 12th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While defensive coordinator Robert Saleh will become head coach of the New York Jets, the 49ers are expected to have a total of 10 selections in April.

Young also said he might be willing to part ways with the top three players to bring the 25-year-old to the Bay Area.
