The skyrocketing coronavirus cases in San Francisco have put the city back in the state’s most restrictive “purple level”, signaling new rules from Monday, the Mayor of London Breed announced on Twitter on Saturday.
A limited stay-at-home order will mean all non-essential indoor businesses will close and members of different households will not be allowed to congregate between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. until December 21.
Outdoor dining, indoor retail, indoor personal services and outdoor fitness will remain open. Outdoor recreation, such as zoos, batting cages, and mini golf can be left open.

Interior activities, including worship, must cease, with a few exceptions. Funerals are permitted indoors for up to 12 people and outdoor religious services are permitted for up to 200 people.

The city has also issued a travel advisory, warning residents not to travel outside the county.
“I don’t know how to be clearer – this is the most dangerous time we have experienced during this pandemic. Don’t travel and get together with others, ”Breed tweeted.
“This is the most aggressive push SF has seen to date. We are currently registering an average of 118 new cases per day, compared to 73 per day in the first week of November, ”she said. “For the week of November 16, we had 768 cases diagnosed versus 217 cases diagnosed the week of October 12.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom imposed a nighttime curfew until Nov. 19 for 41 counties at the “purple” level, but that did not apply to San Francisco at the time. Purple, or level 1, is the most severe level, indicating that the virus is widespread in an area, with more than seven cases per 100,000 population.
Los Angeles County issued a Safer Home Order from Nov. 30 to Dec. 20 that included tighter limits on outings and gatherings on Friday.
Under the new ordinance, residents are urged to stay home “as much as possible” and cover their faces outdoors.
Public and private gatherings with any person outside their home are prohibited. Religious services and demonstrations are exempt. Occupancy limits for retail businesses will be capped at 35%, shopping centers at 20% and at 50% for fitness centers.
Health officials have raised concerns about an increase in transmissions ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and the upcoming holidays next month. Nearly 90,000 are currently hospitalized with the virus in the United States

The Centers for Disease Control urged Americans to forgo travel during the holidays, but the Transportation and Security Administration examined more than 3 million people the weekend before Thanksgiving, the highest number of any weekend since March.
