San Jose sharks re-sign all restricted free agents on hold

The San Jose Sharks have re-signed their five free restricted agents, the Sharks announced Thursday afternoon. Center Dylan Gambrell, center Antti Suomela, defender Nick DeSimone, defender Kyle Wood and center Maxim Letunov will all be part of the Sharks system this fall.

According to Sheng PengGambrell's contract is two years, the first year being a two-way transaction and the second one-way. DeSimone has also signed for two years. Suomela, Wood and Letunov have all signed a one – year bilateral agreement. Each player has signed for the minimum annual average value of $ 700,000 from the league.

The five players spent at least part of the 2018-2019 season with the San Jose Barracuda. Wood, substitute captain of the Barracuda, scored 35 points (six goals, 29 assists) in 68 games. DeSimone scored 14 goals and 32 assists in 65 games, while Letunov scored 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in his first professional hockey season. Both Suomela and Gambrell were recalled from the AHL during the season and had the past with the Sharks. At the AHL, Gambrell recorded 45 points (51 goals, 25 assists) in 51 games, while Suomela scored 20 (six goals, 14 assists) in 47 games.

Suomela has played in 27 NHL games and has scored eight points (three goals, five assists), while Gambrell has not scored in eight regular season appearances. Gambrell played in two of the Sharks' playoffs and scored a goal in the sixth game of the Western Conference finals. He also recorded four points in four playoff games for Barracuda.

Suomela and Gambrell are expected to compete for training spots at the Sharks training camp this fall.
