Each week, Nevada Sports Net's Chris Murray will rank Mountain West football teams. Here is the ranking of this week, with the overall record of each team, his ranking last week, his results last week, his next opponent and a brief comment.

1. State of Boise

Last week's ranking: 1

Record: 4-0, 1-0 MW

Last week: Beat Air Force, 30-19

This week: Goodbye

Comment: Boise State beat the Air Force, beating the Falcons for the third time in a row after three straight defeats against the Air Force, and there does not appear to be any defeat in the near future of the Broncos. After a bye, Boise State gets UNLV, Hawaii, BYU, San Jose State and New Mexico. Apart from the penultimate match of the regular season at Utah State, the Broncos should be double-digit favorites in all other games.

2. State of Utah

Last week's ranking: 2

Record: 2-1, 1-0

Last week: Beat the State of San Diego, 23-17

This week: vs State of Colorado

Comment: Utah State won a huge game against San Diego State last week, thanks to its strong defense, which beat the Aztecs 7-3 in the first three quarters with a six-man selection by Shaq Bond. It was an interesting game with six readers of at least 10 pieces, including sets of 16 pieces, 15 pieces and two 13 piece orders. In the end, the state of Utah held despite its crushing in time of possession (almost 14 minutes).

3. State of San Diego

Last week's ranking: 3

Record: 3-1, 0-1

Last week: Lost in the state of Utah, 23-17

This week: Goodbye

Comment: SDSU will die the loss of his home against the state of Utah. The Aztecs were better than the Aggies in many areas, but they had the only roll of the game (the choice of Utah State) and failed to overcome a slow start despite their dominance of the second half and ball possession time (36:55 to 23:05). Running is a concern. The Aztecs won just 91 yards in 46 races and averaged 3.2 yards per race in 2019.

4. Hawaii

Last week's ranking: 5

Record: 3-1, 0-0

Last week: Beat Central Arkansas, 35-16

This week: in Nevada

Comment: Hawaii has been successful outside the conferences, but if the Warriors want to compete and win their first West Division title, they have to win on the road, which has not been a strength for the Rainbow Warriors since their stint. MW (Hawaii is between 8 and 35 years old on the road since entering the league in 2012). Hawaii plays in Nevada and Boise State in her next two games. Divide these contests would be huge.

5. Wyoming

Last week's ranking: 4

Record: 3-1, 0-0

Last week: Lost in Tulsa, 24-21

This week: vs UNLV

Comment: Wyoming's bid for its first 4-0 start since 1996 was thwarted by Tulsa, who eliminated two WM opponents this season (Wyoming and San Jose State). Wyoming was defeated in the loss, losing five players during the match. He also used two quarters, giving Tyler Vander Waal his first play time this year. Wyoming completed just 10 of 32 passes, but the 10 receptions totaled 214 yards.

6. Fresno State

Last week's ranking: seven

Record: 1-2, 0-0

Last week: Beat Sacramento State, 34-20

This week: in the state of New Mexico

Comment: Fresno State got its first win, although it was not very convincing. The match was tied at 20 early in the fourth quarter, before the Bulldogs scored 14 points in the last seven minutes. The state of Fresno had tremendous benefits in the first trials (30-14), total yards (471-245) and possession time (37:46 to 22:14). The next test is not much harder: at New Mexico State, which is 0-4.

7. army of the air

Last week's ranking: 6

Record: 2-1, 0-1

Last week: Lost to Boise State, 30-19

This week: against the state of San Jose (Friday)

Comment: The Air Force tied Boise State in yards (355 each) and led in the second half, but could not stay late with the Broncos. The game switched to a fourth-quarter interception by Donald Hammond III, which was sandwiched by a pair of Boise State touchdowns. The Air Force remains a strong team, but the next six games will not be easy: San Jose State, Navy, Fresno State, Hawaii, Utah State and Army. A 3-3 stretch would be nice.

8. Nevada

Last week's ranking: 8

Record: 3-1, 0-0

Last week: Beat UTEP, 37-21

This week: against Hawaii

Comment: A win at home against Hawaii could allow Nevada to take third place next week. This is the parity between Boise State and Utah. If the Wolf Pack is to win its first Western Division title, beating Hawaii this week and San Jose State next week seems almost mandatory. Both games are at home and would give the Wolf Pack a step back with tough road games at Fresno State, San Diego State, Wyoming and Utah State.

9. State of San Jose

Last week's ranking: 12

Record: 2-1, 0-0

Last week: Beat Arkansas, 31-24

This week: to the air force (Friday)

Comment: Congratulations to the state of San Jose for defeating the enemy of the SEC, Arkansas. It was the Spartans' first non-regular game win against an FBS rival since the school joined MW in 2013. It's been a seven-year win. SJSU was between 0 and 19 years old in such games before heading to the SEC territory. The victory was enough to allow the Spartans to win three places, but I will need to see more.

10. State of Colorado

Last week's ranking: 9

Record: 1-3, 0-0

Last week: Lost in Toledo, 41-35

This week: at Utah State

Comment: The defense of the state of Colorado is a mess. The Rams have allowed 41, 52 and 55 points in three games against FBS opponents this season. The Colorado State awarded Toledo a total of 547 yards, including 436 yards in 46 races. It's 9.5 yards per race, and that's not going to win games. The defense spoiled a solid first start for quarterback Patrick O'Brien (32 of 52, 405 yards, two touchdowns, one interception).

11. New Mexico

Last week's ranking: 11

Record: 2-1, 0-0

Last week: Beat the State of New Mexico, 55-52

This week: to freedom

Comment: New Mexico played the most fun game of the week in the MW, a 55-52 victory in a rivalry match, with 62 points in the first half. The teams combined for 56 first tries, 107 points and 1,087 yards. The Lobos, who were the first to race, turned to the air to win. Tevaka Tuioti has pitched for a career-high 355 yards and three touchdowns. New Mexico has three games to win (Liberty, San Jose State and Colorado State).

12. UNLV

Last week's ranking: ten

Record: 1-2, 0-0

Last week: Goodbye

This week: in Wyoming

Comment: UNLV did not even play last week and lost two places, but San Jose State deserved progress and New Mexico beat FBS opponent, which UNLV did not do . The Rebels open the MW game in Wyoming before drawing Boise State, Vanderbilt, Fresno State and San Diego State, a particularly difficult four-game sequence. That's why this week's game in Wyoming is almost essential if UNLV wants to qualify.
