San Luis Obispo police chief's pistol found and suspect identified

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The San Luis Obispo Police Department announced Thursday night that the stolen gun of their police chief, Deanna Cantrell, had been found.

The police department received a call around 7 pm that the stolen gun had been found. The man who called the service would be the brother-in-law of the man suspected of stealing the weapon.

The investigators went to Los Osos to retrieve the weapon and interrogate the suspect.

The suspect identified as Skeeter Carlos Mangan, 30, admitted to having found the weapon in the bathroom El Pollo Loco in San Luis Obispo and put it in his pocket before returning home to Los Osos.

The police department thanks the community for its support during this investigation.
