Sanford firefighter faces charges over his role in the Capitol riot

SANFORD, Florida – A Sanford firefighter who was pictured inside the Capitol building during a full-scale riot last week has been arrested on federal charges, according to records.

Andrew Williams was taken into police custody on Tuesday for disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds and knowingly entered the president’s temporary residence without permission to do so.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and a judge set his bond at $ 25,000. Now that he has been released, he will have to surrender his guns and passport, restrict his movement, and undergo mental health assessments and drug tests.

If found guilty, he could receive a fine or up to six months in prison.

Pelosi’s office was vandalized during the riots and other photos show rioters sitting at his desk.

The Sanford Fire Department said Thursday an investigation had been opened.

“We are aware of this and the firefighter works for the Sanford Fire Department. The Sanford Fire Department has launched an administrative investigation into this information, ”read a statement from the department.

On Tuesday, the ministry said there had been no update on the case.

Crowds of supporters of President Donald Trump lobbied police and entered the Capitol building on Wednesday as Congress prepared to certify the electoral college votes that would formalize the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.

At least five other Florida men have been arrested to date.
