The suspect suspected of pursuing a lawsuit that began Tuesday in Santa Clarita and ended in the San Fernando Valley was brought to trial on Thursday for several crime charges, officials said.

52-year-old Julie Rainbird of Winnetka should be charged with fleeing a vehicle from a peace officer suing, causing serious injury and cruelty to an animal, according to Ricardo Santiago, of the Los Angeles County Attorney's Office.

Rainbird has also been charged with three counts of assault with a lethal weapon and hit and run that caused injury to another person, said Santiago de Chile.

According to the District Attorney's Office, the charges include serious personal injury charges and several convictions for theft of multiple multiple identities.

The lawsuit originally began on The Old Road, near Towsley Canyon, when the sheriff's deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station attempted to stop the alleged stolen motorhome.

Once the pursuit entered 118 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol took command of the pursuit.

The prosecution took place in surface streets where the suspect collided with parked cars, a tree and two occupied vehicles, officials said.

The lawsuit ended on Tampa Boulevard and Wells Drive in Tarzana when the driver struck one of the busy vehicles.

During the chase, two dogs were also in the camper. One of them managed to get out of the vehicle during the pursuit and the second was ejected from the vehicle during the last collision.

Rainbird was not the owner of the dogs, according to officials.

Animal control and surveillance officials in the city of Los Angeles are currently looking for the owner of the dogs.

Dogs should be detained for 30 days to give owners time to claim their dogs, officials said.

"After 30 days, dogs will pass adoption," said Justin Khosrowabadi, spokesman for the Los Angeles City Animal Control and Monitoring Group.

Rainbird faces more than 14 years in prison if he is convicted of all charges, according to the DA's office.

Ed. Note: The maximum possible sentence has been changed by representatives of the district attorney's office.
