Sarah Drew Prepares ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Return With Season 17 Guest Appearance – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Amid the darkness of coverage of the coronavirus pandemic on ABC Grey’s Anatomy There have been some glowing moments this season, many of which have to do with the return of beloved former cast members.

After Partick Dempsey, who has been recurring this season, and TR Knight, who appeared in an episode last fall, Sarah Drew will also be returning to Gray Sloan this season, Deadline can reveal.

She will reprise her fan favorite character of Dr. April Kepner in a future episode.

And more Grey’s the elders might be on their way home, appearing in dreamy beach footage. As Grey’s Anatomy Showrunner Krista Vernoff teased this week, “Chances are you will see other people on the beach.”

Drew left Grey’s at the end of season 14 in 2018 after nine seasons, eight of which were in the regular series. She started out as a recurrent in Season 6 before being promoted to regular the following season.

Drew’s Dr April Kepner was an attending trauma surgeon at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, who joined Mercy West Medical Center after the merger. She shares a daughter with her ex, Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). We last saw her get tied up with Matthew (Justin Bruening) and quit her job, although a lot Grey’s fans – and Drew herself – were hoping she would reunite with Jackson. April’s comeback could help end the former couple’s story.

Most recently, Drew has been recurring on Freeform’s Was cruel. On the feature side, Drew recently starred in Sony. Mum’s Night Ort. It is taken over by Innovative Artists, Vault Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
