The Duchess of York has said she “adores” the show – which has been described as Gossip Girl meets Downton Abbey – and admitted she has watched it twice before. Bridgerton has been one of the most talked about TV shows since it launched on the streaming service on Christmas Day.
The series is set in Regency London and follows Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, as she tries to find a husband.
Sarah told Us Weekly: “I loved Bridgerton so much that I looked at her twice, on purpose. I am obsessed with it.
“I think Daphne is a great character because we see her learning about life.
“I love the way she learns to use her loud voice. It came to me because the time has come for women to speak out.
Sarah added that she would speak to the producer in Bridgerton about the transformation of her new book, Her Heart For A Compass, into a TV series.
The Duchess said: “The costumes and sets were also amazing.
“The way Betsy Beers and Shonda Rhimes created Bridgerton is fabulous and I was really impressed.
“I will definitely talk to Shondaland about making Her Heart for a Compass a TV series.”

Sarah, nicknamed Fergie, came across Lady Margaret after researching her ancestors and became fascinated because Margaret is her middle name.
She drew on her own experiences when writing the book.
The Duchess said: “Although her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, were close friends of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, I could not find out much about the youth of my namesake, and thus was born the idea which became Her Heart For A Compass.
“With real historical events and facts at hand, my imagination took over. I made up a story for her that incorporated real people and events, including some of my other ancestors.
“I created a friendship between my heroine and Princess Louise, the sixth child of Queen Victoria, and I have drawn many parallels in my life for Lady Margaret’s journey.”
Sarah has already written her memoirs and is the author of numerous children’s books.
She was also executive producer of the 2009 landmark film The Young Victoria.
And she read children’s books throughout the coronavirus pandemic on her YouTube channel, Storytime with Fergie and Friends.
Sarah said: “I have long had a passion for historical research and for telling the stories of strong women in history through film and television.
“I am proud to bring my personal brand of historical fiction to the publishing world.”
The Royal wrote the book with author Marguerite Kaye, who is described as her “collaborator and mentor”.
