The last time we saw Sasha Banks on a WWE show, she was losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Bianca Belair in the main event of WrestlingMania 37. She took a break after, winning an ESPY Award for that game in the meantime.
Because Banks took this free time, it was naturally assumed that when she returned she would do so to challenge Belair again for the title she had lost. This is not what happened.
Well, at least not yet.
Instead, she came to Belair’s defense on Friday night SmackDown this week:
Zelina Vega and Carmella beat Belair, after the champion had just accepted a challenge from Vega, when Banks’ music rang out – to a thunderous standing ovation – and she stormed the ring. She sent the bad guys off and gave Bianca a big hug.
A new team? A setup for another round of Sasha?
