Sasse and the tactics of Romney Pan Trump’s campaign during the election challenge

Later Thursday evening, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said the Trump campaign’s pressure tactics on election officials amounted to an attempt to “reverse the will of the people.”

“It’s hard to imagine worse, more undemocratic action from a sitting US president,” Romney said. Romney was the only Republican to support the impeachment of Trump during his impeachment trial.

Trump is expected to meet with Michigan GOP leaders on Friday as the state prepares to certify election results which currently show Biden leading by more than 150,000 votes. Sasse analyzed Trump’s chances of overturning the Michigan result.

“When lawyers for the Trump campaign went to court under oath, they repeatedly refused to allege the grand fraud – because there are legal consequences to lying to judges,” Sasse said. “President Trump lost Michigan by more than 100,000 votes, and the campaign and its allies lost or withdrew from the five lawsuits in Michigan so they could not produce any evidence.”

Sasse was one of the first GOP senators to recognize Biden as president-elect, but a growing number of Republicans in the Senate are starting to admit that Trump has little path to the White House. They are also increasingly questioning the tactics the Trump campaign uses.

“They have to be able to show this proof. I haven’t seen any evidence yet, ”Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said on Fox News Radio’s“ The Guy Benson Show ”. She said the best place for their allegations was the courts.
