Whether it's race racing, motorcycle riding or season to season, the ups and downs are always a constant in the race. This was especially true today, on many levels. Many riders saw their fortunes reverse from the first to the second inning, some changed the initial course they had traced last week in Hangtown, while others continued to get positive results after the supercross seasons they would tend to forget.
In the 250 category, the day belonged to Adam Cianciarulo, although it was not easy. The Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki rider battled with RJ Hampshire in the first run for the second run before placing third and found himself involved in a slugfest with another GEICO Honda rider, Hunter Lawrence, to the second run. Lawrence seemed to be the fastest runner, and he overtook Cianciarulo for the lead at one point before coming down and making the place. With his determination, Lawrence went up and continued to fight, getting closer to Cianciarulo, but Cianciarulo would not be refused that day, finally winning the round and ahead of Justin Cooper for the overall standings. It was Cianciarulo's second consecutive national victory, which had to work wonders to help erase the sting of the fall of a supercross championship a few weeks ago.
"It was a very good race," Cianciarulo said later. "I went to California this year and saw Hunter [Lawrence] Ride here and he rolls really well, so I was not surprised to see him up there. I know he had a crash in the first race, so he had to pay for the door selection in the second race. But he had two or three places where he made me. This first step forward, he was holding me and before the finish line too. He had a few lines on me. When he caught me, I tried not to panic and I just tried to learn and see what I could do to be able to lay a charge in the end. Then he had a small reversal and I thought he was further back than him, so I started to lengthen a little bit. Two laps from the end, my mechanic put 'Push' on the pit board, and he waved his towel. So heartbreaking that the second race had to be for Lawrence, it was much better for him than the first. After finding himself with Jordon Smith and crashing during the first race, Lawrence climbed back into the track and came back inside, then hit a rock on the track and tear a hole in the lid. of his oil filter. Second place in the first heat went to Lawrence's teammate, RJ Hampshire, who made an outstanding run under immense pressure from Cianciarulo in the final stages. Unfortunately for Hampshire, Alex Martin and he had a collision during the second run, causing significant damage to the Hampshire radiator and a hole in one of his radiator hoses. Just like that, the bright day of Hampshire was overheated and embittered.
Justin Cooper, who won the first run after winning the first run, finished fourth in second place. Late in the second inning, Cooper escaped Chase Sexton's charge and then pursued Dylan Ferrandis for third place, but fell behind.

I tried to give everything I had and it was enough for a podium, but my goal is to win motorcycles, to win races. I will not be happy until that happens. "
Ferrandis was also unhappy to have fallen in the first race after Cianciarulo got in touch with him, and said he did not know if it was on purpose or not.
"From my point of view, a guy in front of me slowed and me too to try to take the turn. Adam [Cianciarulo] came from the inside and hit me and I crashed. I did not see any video. Cianciarulo responded by saying that intentionally suppressing Ferrandis was not included in his game book.
"The first rounds are obviously very hectic. Guys are everywhere going from one side of the track to the other. I went a little further than him and he found himself stuck with another guy and got his bike up a bit. When he lifted his bike, I cut a little under him at the same time. I've definitely pulled the gap. It is obvious that he will have a chance that he will re-enter the corner and collide. That said, I never intend to put anyone on the field. I thought he was always behind me. I will never be the guy running like that, to get someone out. If you have to act aggressively, one of these guys will dismiss you if necessary. We take these things seriously. It's unfortunate that he crashed, that's not the way I like to run, but I'm sure he'll get me back someday. "
Cianciarulo and Ferrandis, as well as all those present at the post-race press conference, had a cheerful little laugh when Cianciarulo said that he was certain that Ferrandis would repay him sooner or later.
In the latest Fox Raceway news at 250, the start of the second 250 race was a bit dramatic. Several runners found the doorway bent, but a video later revealed that it was actually a jumper jumping early, which triggered a chain reaction.
"We all thought that there was going to be a red flag," Cooper said. "But obviously, you do not want to go on the first round in case it does not happen, and I saw the green flag flutter and I knew the race was on. Honestly, I was a little disconcerted. I saw it coming on the line of sight too. It looked like he had stumbled, then he had dropped two seconds later, which looked like the second attempt at abandonment. It was hard to get a good start at that time, but I knew it was the case for everyone, so I did my best.
Cianciarulo added: "In the middle of the straight line, I said to myself:" They must put this flag in the red. I slammed the door a little, I pulled out and arrived very late. The second overall Musquin follows a Hangtown he would probably forget, where he was 7-4 to rank sixth after falling during the tests.
"I thought I was going to skip a day of driving, but I missed it pretty much all week.
