Nick Jonas became “double duty” as the host and musical guest of “Saturday Night Live” this week.
The 28-year-old pop star took part in his first animated concert expressing his love for his home state of New Jersey and joking that he won’t be leaving the Jonas Brothers during his monologue of opening.
“It’s been a year to the day since I last performed live, so I figured I was going to loosen up by doing a double duty as host and musical guest,” Jonas joked. “I grew up not far from here in New Jersey. Please court and not curse. But I love Jersey. This is where my brothers and I grew up.

Jonas went on to note that his brother and teammate Kevin, 33, was in the audience to support his debut.
Kevin didn’t miss a comedic beat when the camera turned it on him.
“Hi Nick,” Kevin recalled from his seat. “Honestly, I’m so excited to be here to support you. And also, I have to ask, are we good? Because I see you do a lot of solo stuff. Are we still a band?”
To that, Jonas simply replied, “Of course.”

But Kevin didn’t give up and asked his younger brother if he was sure.
“I just bought a house,” Kevin warns.
“The band is still together, I promise,” Jonas said reassuringly.

When Jonas wasn’t joking with his brother or performing skits, the singer took to the “SNL” stage to perform two brand new songs, “Spaceman” and “This is Heaven”.
Jonas had teased on social media that he would play “Spaceman” on Thursday, the same day he released the single on streaming.

Meanwhile, her other song came as a total surprise to studio audiences and home viewers.

Jonas last performed on “SNL” alongside his brothers Kevin and Joe, 31, in 2019. The musical trio reunited to reform their group Jonas Brothers after a six-year hiatus at the time.
