KUWAIT, Dec. 9 (KUNA) – The total number of Kuwaiti prostheses in Kuwait reached 80 percent in the first six months of this year, up from 78 percent the previous year, a health official said Sunday.
Dr. Salah Al-Shayji, director of the Hospital of Natural Medicine and Health Rehabilitation Ministry of Health of Kuwait and Center of Industrial Parties, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the number of its auditors had increased compared to previous years.
Al-Shayji announced the visit of an Italian team to the hospital specialized in the rehabilitation and installation of cosmetic prostheses (silicone), where he installed the cosmetic members of 36 patients who lost lower and upper limbs due to diabetes, blood, road accidents and occupational injuries.
He explained that this service was coordinated in advance by the introduction of local practices with universal technical specifications and guarantees guaranteeing the patient the right to replace or indemnify these parties with a two-year surety.
He added that the team included medical footwear specialists for patients with poliomyelitis and various disabilities and foot diseases, stressing that the polarization of these teams from abroad increased the proportion of patients treated with artificial limbs and medical shoes, except in some complex cases.
For its part, the head of the center's technicians, Khalid al-Kandari, has developed electronic hands for patients with advanced hypophilia characterized by advanced technology, which allows the patient to move 5 fingers separately and in addition to the light weight, made of the material (carbon fiber).
Al-Kandari pointed out that the provision of electronic hands was addressed to patients who requested it from specialized medical committees, explaining that the installation took place over a period not exceeding 3 months.
And announced the release of 40 technicians and technicians (industrial parties) close to the General Authority for Education and Applied Training (Industrial Institute) to replace national cadres and engage in the field of artificial limbs, especially of the female component. (End)
